Message from the Maestro
Dear Members and Friends
Welcome to the first edition of LUCO Continuo!
Even though we aren't performing live, the heart and soul of LUCO lives on. That's why we're introducing "LUCO Continuo," a monthly newsletter to connect LUCO members and our friends and family.
LUCO Continuo will provide us with a place to collaborate, share news, creative ideas, and keep you up to date on what is happening with LUCO. This will work best when you contribute! Do you have news to share? An idea for a project? Send it to me at [email protected]. I would love to hear from you!
Each month, I will post a video to the LUCO website. This month I want to highlight female composer Katharine Lucke (1875-1962), who composed many works for organ, chamber ensemble, and voice. This short performance features cellist John Michel on Lucke's Andante Cantabile from the Cellists Favorite Contest Album by Frankly Collier.
We hope you enjoy LUCO Continuo!

P.S. Thanks again to all who participated in our first
Sound Bites event in December. It's time for round two! If you'd like to participate, please send me your video (up to four minutes long) by Sunday, February 21. The event will take place in March (date TBD). |

Play On!
Learning to make music online.
From Concertmaster Erica Johansen:
Ever wonder how to make one of those tiled video performances? The really good ones take a lot more time and video editing skills than you would think! However there is an easier, faster way to produce similar videos, and it's free! Join me Thursday, February 18 at 6:30pm for an online workshop where I'll teach you how to use a program called Upbeat. It is simple to learn, and I have used it with students ages 10-18 to create rehearsal and concert videos.
I know many of us struggle with motivation to practice, and having a way to produce a performance with friends may be the incentive you need to get playing again. Hope to see you there!
Note, this class is limited to 15 people. It will be recorded.
