Award winning cellist Julian Schwarz was born in 1991 to a family of musicians. At age 11, he made his debut with the Seattle Symphony performing the Saint-Saens 1st Concerto. In the upcoming seasons, he will perform the Tchaikovsky Rococo Variations on a 15 concert USA tour with the Moscow State Radio Orchestra, as well as on a tour with the National Philharmonic of Poland. He will also appear with the Greensboro Symphony, Seattle Symphony, and at the 2009 Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival as well as the prestigious Verbier Festival in Switzerland. In past seasons he has performed with the Bellevue Philharmonic (televised), Sammamish, Eastern, and Port Angeles Symphonies, Philharmonia Northwest, Northwest Sinfonietta (both Haydn Concertos), and Tifereth Israel Orchestra of San Diego, among others. At 15 he made his first recording for the Naxos label (released in 2008) and has also recorded the Haydn and Saint-Saens Concertos with the Seattle Symphony, as well as the Hovhaness Yakamochi currently being played alongside Dale Chihuly’s Armenian exhibit. At 16, he appeared on the NPR radio show “From the Top” live from San Francisco’s Herbst Theatre. As a conductor, Mr. Schwarz served as the Lake Union Civic Orchestra’s first Assistant Conductor under Maestro Christophe Chagnard for the 07-08 and 08-09 seasons.
